Forum - Pete Doherty 6 December

Having not shown up at the Rough Trade signing on Monday, Mr Pete Doherty actually showed up to his gig at the Forum with his band the other  night.

In early November, I interviewed Jon Bon Jovi for the Guardian. He was cool and a total gentlemen. When Jon mentioned he didn't know who Pete Doherty was, I suggested that the Babyshambles man was well worth hearing. In my opinion, both Carl Barat and Pete Doherty of the Libertines are iconic British artists, which is why I was drawn to working with them.

Pete Doherty – A Portrait of the Artist

As documented in the media Pete Docherty has recently been detained at Her Majesty’s Pleasure for six months. One of our ZANI team was lucky enough to interview him one month prior to his incarceration. Pete was upbeat and optimistic, and displayed no hint of this issue that must have been hanging over his head the weeks leading up to the trial. Thanks to Pete’s Manager and Agent permission was granted to upload this unique insight into the charismatic man that is-Pete Doherty.

Well, not exactly the 5th – about 11th – but certainly in the squad. It’s funny but when I did university, one of the few lectures I actually turned up for and enjoyed was about group dynamics and the sum of the parts being bigger than the whole: that’s the key to all the best bands I’ve ever liked. Weller was never as (consistently) good as The Jam, and Strummer and Jones, Brown, yes yes, they’ve all made some blinding stuff afterwards but what can compare with what they did in the band… why?

About Us

ZANI was conceived in late 2008 and the fan base gradually grew by word of mouth. Key contributors came from those of the music, film and fashion industry and the voice of ZANI grew louder. So, when in 2013 investor, contributor and fan of ZANI Alan McGee* offered his support to help restyle and relaunch the site it was inevitable that traffic would increase dramatically and continues to grow. *Alan McGee co-founder of Creation Records and new label 359 Music..
